Why am I so lonely?
Why do I feel empty and unfulfilled?
Why do I feel like I was made for a perfect relationship yet I can't
find it?
The answer to these questions can be found in how you regard
Truth. We live in a culture that has abandoned absolutes. That
same culture tells us there is no certain, knowable truth. It's
a culture that claims there is no "one" religion that
is right, but "whatever suits the individual is 'right' for
them" - you know, a "user-friendly" religion. Yet,
that culture is a hypocrite of its own ideaology.
Imagine having a deadly cancer that is destroying your body.
You go to the doctor to get a specific remedy for the disease
but he tells you that anything will do the job. He tells you to
go down to your local pharmacy and buy anything on the shelf that
"looks" good or "feels" good to you. Two things
will eventually happen: you will die and the doctor will have
a law suit on his hands. Why? Because we live in a "sue-happy"
society that demands precision, absolutes, and specifics when
it comes to the practice of medicine. If a doctor doesn't narrow
the options down to the absolute perfect "life-saving"
remedy, his career is on the line.
It's amazing how we demand precision from our doctors, auto mechanics,
and dentists, yet can be so flippant with spirituality like its
a gumball in Willy Wonka's candy factory - whatever flavor best
suits you. When dealing with spirituality, this is not gumballs
and its not a head cold. It is a life-and-death issue! Your eternal
destiny hangs in the balance of how you approach your spirituality.
We are not talking about religion. New religions are being formed
every day and many of them are now coming out of Hollywood. Religion
is built upon the traditions of men. Religion is man's best attempts
to get to a holy God and in some cases form their own god by being
morally good or practicing rituals. Religion always fails to meet
the approval of God because it is more about coming to God on
man’s terms rather than God’s. TRUTH, on the other
hand, is God's attempt to reach mankind - a fallen humanity incapable
of reaching God on its own. You can choose man's way (religion),
or you can choose God's way (Truth). Religion will always leave
you empty. But when you come to God on His terms the emptiness
in your heart will be filled.
Truth says that God wants to know you in a personal and intimate
way:"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life." John 3:16 (NKJV)
But there is a problem with every human being. It's a spiritual
cancer and you are infected with it whether you feel the symptoms
or not. Truth reveals that every living person has fallen short
of God's standards (Romans 3:23). We call it imperfection but
God calls it "sin." God also says, "the wages of
sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
our Lord." Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
Religion cannot cure you of this disease. Only God's precise
remedy will heal the wound this spiritual cancer has made. "But
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now
been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through
Him." Romans 5:8-9 (NKJV)
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only
true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." John 17:3
(NKJV)
It's not enough to just know that Truth exists - you must act
on it! God says "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus
is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart
that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with
your mouth that you are saved." Romans 10:9-10 (NLT)
A genuine relationship with God can only begin when you accept
the truth that you have a spiritual cancer that only Jesus can
heal. Make this your prayer of faith to begin that relationship
with God:
"God - Thank you for showing me your Truth. I realize
I have an emptiness that only you can fill. I admit that I have
sinned and failed you. I realize and confess that you sent your
son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross - to pay the penalty for
my sin. Forgive me of my sin and come into my heart. From this
moment on, I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Now help
me by the power of the Holy Spirit to walk in your Truth. Amen."
