Rich Daughtridge grew up in Hagerstown, Maryland, graduating from Smithsburg
High School in 1994. After a successful high school career in which
he was named First-Team All-State, Rich went on to play Division I college
soccer at the Virginia Military Institute. While at VMI, Rich became
the school’s All-time Leading scorer, was a 3-Time 1st Team All-Southern
Conference selection, and was named All-State Virginia and All-South
Atlantic.
After college in 1998, he signed his first professional contract with
the Hampton Roads Mariners of the U.S.I.S.L. A-League and competed against
such teams as DC United and the NY/NJ Metro Stars. Early in his rookie
season he was named to the A-League Team-of-the-Week after scoring two
goals versus the Raleigh Flyers. The following summer he played for
the Charlotte Eagles in North Carolina where the team made it to the
Final Four of the league.
Rich also coached soccer at the college level for Washington and Lee
University in '98 and '99.
Rich returned to the Washington County, Maryland area in 2000 to begin
a professional indoor soccer career with the Baltimore Blast.
Rich is also the author of the book Beyond Soccer, a devotional
tool to help soccer players and fans experience a daily walk with Christ. The Ultimate Goal soccer video featuring Rich Daughtridge is great for Christian athletes, coaches, soccer players, sports ministries, outreach programs, and Christian soccer camps.
