Straight to a generation attached to the culture of “core sports”
comes “Livin’ It”—a high-impact outreach film
featuring extreme athletes who live their Christian faith every day.
The project comes from PalauFest Productions, a ministry of the Oregon-based
Luis Palau Association, which has produced some of the largest Christian
celebrations in recent memory. One of the most successful parts of these
“Great music—Good News” festivals is a massive, custom-built
skate park where tens of thousands of young fans have heard the gospel.
“Livin’ It” puts this festival excitement on film
as some of the top professionals in skateboarding and BMX riding stretch
their talent and their faith on their boards, on their bikes and on
the streets.
Director/producer/host Stephen Baldwin brings the experience of two
decades of filmmaking to the Palau team’s mission to bring young
people to Christ. An actor, family man, born-again Christian, Baldwin
makes his home in upstate New York with his wife and daughters. Despite
a steady work load in film and television Baldwin said his family and
newfound faith are most important to him.
The youngest of the Baldwin brothers acting clan, Baldwin, 37, is one
of the few Hollywood actors versatile enough for key roles in everything
from The Usual Suspects to Bio-Dome. Equally adept at drama and comedy,
Baldwin has appeared in more than 60 films and has been featured on
such shows as Fear Factor and Celebrity Mole. He has his own production
company, which is developing projects for television and the big screen.
Baldwin and Executive Producer Kevin Palau assembled a talented and
motivated team of filmmakers and athletes who captured extreme stunts
and action sports along with face-to-face, street-style evangelism.
The fruit of their work is “Livin’ It,” a contemporary,
relevant evangelistic tool that pastors, organizations and young Christians
can use to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The 45-minute DVD is packaged with bonus material including celebrity
and athlete testimonies, Bible sampler and instructional tools, and
footage from the Beachfest Fort Lauderdale festival that drew the largest
spring break crowd in history to south Florida.
“Livin’ It” has a number of evangelistic and corporate
partners joining in its distribution, including Teen Mania, Compassion
and Youth for Christ.
“Livin’ It” is bringing out Baldwin’s “white-hot
passion for evangelism.” The partnership with the Luis Palau Evangelistic
Association holds great promise for the “Livin’ It”
concept: to bring the Good News to young people through the “core
sports” culture.
Eleven of the top Christian BMX and Skateboard professionals came together
for a display of their talent and their faith on their boards, on their
bikes and on the streets in “Livin it.”
The ‘Livin It” DVD has been attracting national media attention
from such outlets as CNN, Fox News, PBS and People magazine. Livin It
segments will also be featured on Breakaway TV and distributed for showings
in juvenile detention centers.
